Here you will find a selection of percussion instruments in different categories. Percussion instruments are musical instruments that make sound as a result of the encounter of two objects (one of them can be a body part, like the hand). In theory the piano is a percussion instrument as the sound is made by mallets hitting strings, but pianos and similar instruments are excluded from this category. However we will include a small number of instruments in which percussion is not used; where else would you find samba whistles?
